For WizSmart sustainability means our commitment to developing products must not only be the best; they must not harm the environment. With our pee pads, we have done just that. We did a lot of research when designing our pads. In the end, we came up with a product that isn’t just super absorbent and fast drying and it’s also sustainable.
When we designed the WizSmart pee pad, our goal was to create a pad that was not only gentle on the environment but was super absorbent and fast drying. Using recycled diapers was a great place to start since we knew that we were using materials designed for absorbency. Even better, we were removing some 120 million diapers from polluting the environment.
Recycled Materials
As we went through our testing, we found that the diaper material alone wasn’t quite enough. In the end, we blended Eucapet, a fiber made from Eucalyptus trees to the diaper materials. After the blending, we fluffed and puffed the mixture. The end result was the perfect material for a dog pad that is comfortable, absorbent, fast drying, and best of all, easy on the environment.
All Natural Filling / Fluff
Our decision to use eucalyptus was an important one, especially when you consider the fact that the companies we use for this product practice Certified Responsible Forestry. While there are other types of trees, particularly the Loblolly Pine, that would have shown similar results in terms of adding to the absorbency of the diaper material, the renewal cycle for eucalyptus is relatively short at 6-7 years when compared with pine.
Absorbency
An often overlooked product feature when thinking of terms of sustainability is performance. Unlike diapers, traditional pee pads don’t hold much liquid. Our Super can hold as much as 5 cups, the Ultra 8 cups, and the Ultra XL up to 10 cups. That means there is less switching out so you’ll dispose of fewer pads. With WizSmart you’ll use 1-2 pads where you’ll need 4-6 with other brands. Even better, the pads are fast drying so your pet's paws won’t get wet. Our lateral barrier ensures less messy cleanup.
